Hiba Academy Shanghai is proud to announce the exceptional performance of our pupils in the IGCSE examinations for June 2023. These results reflect the remarkable progress and dedication of our pupils over the past five years.
In 2018, we welcomed our first cohort of grade 6 founding pupils, and since then, they have flourished under the guidance of their teachers, developing into well-rounded young adults who are ready to take on the challenges of tomorrow.
On August 16th, the results of the IGCSE examinations were released, confirming our pupils' outstanding achievements in this globally recognised assessment.
A*-A success
In this year's IGCSE exams, 74% of all grades were A* and A, a notable accomplishment in 2023, considering the heightened grading standards and the return to pre-pandemic levels around the world.
Notably, 40% of our grade 10 pupils achieved eight or more A*/A grades, while an impressive 80% secured five or more A*/A grades.
These achievements are particularly commendable given that each student took at least eight subjects, demonstrating their ability and dedication across multiple academic disciplines.
Impressive performance
across subjects
Hiba Academy Shanghai offers a variety of courses across 17 IGCSE subjects, enabling our pupils to explore a diverse range of academic pursuits. We are delighted with the results they have achieved across disciplines and interest areas.
Of particular note isthe exceptional performance in English.
As a bilingual school, we are thrilledthat all students took the English First Language examination with over 90% ofall grades at A*-B.
Similarly, 75% of the cohort took English Literature andthe results were equally impressive.
These results reflect the dedication and hard work of our pupils and teachers.
Dr Clark Zhang, Director of Studies of Hiba Academy Shanghai, remarked:
Our pupils faced the challenge of taking IGCSE exams across 17 subjects, and their achievements are truly remarkable. Their willingness to tackle subjects like history, music, and drama, which demand extensive reading and rehearsal time, is a testament to their courage and our Hiba Values. We encourage our pupils to follow their interests, push their boundaries, and expand their horizons.
The pupils and teachers are exhilarated by this excellent news, and we are confident that these remarkable IGCSE results will inspire our pupils to achieve equally impressive outcomes as they embark on their IBDP learning journey, beginning this year.
*The IGCSEs, one of the most widely recognised global examinations for 14 to 16-year-olds, is highly regarded by top universities and colleges worldwide. It serves as a solid foundation for students as they progress into the IBDP learning program and beyond.
