How to prepare for being a Wellingtonian

03 Apr 2018

Welcome to Wellington College Bilingual Shanghai from the admissions department. Our job is to answer all of your questions, guide you through the admissions process and offer a warm welcome to the Wellington community. We are all looking forward to meeting our future Wellingtonians and their parents. Please do look at the admissions pages on our website, they contain lots of information and a helpful FAQ section. If you cannot find the answer to your question, please contact the team and we will be pleased to assist. During the very busy admissions season, we prefer to receive email queries rather than telephone queries so please contact us by email at admissions.bilingualshanghai@wellingtoncollege.cn Set out below is a summary of the seven steps to joining Wellington:

1. Attend one of our ‘Meet the Master’ sessions.

We are holding our information sessions starting on the 14th April and they are aimed at parents of children wishing to enter grade 1 or above. These sessions provide the opportunity to learn about the Wellington educational model, meet out school leaders and teachers and find out about the campus. Registration for these sessions can be made via https://wccsb.openapply.com/openday or by scanning the QR code:

*Please read the important notes below.

2. Online College registration

If after attending one of our ‘Meet the Master’ sessions, you would like to register with Wellington College Bilingual Shanghai, parents will be sent a link and inviting them to complete and submit the College’s online registration form.

3. Getting to Know You

We think it is important for teachers, parents and children to have the opportunity to get to know each other better before deciding whether Wellington College Bilingual Shanghai is the right school for your family. If you are considering selecting Wellington as your first choice school, we will invite you all to attend an individual family meeting.

4. Make your final decisions and select your preferred schools in the Shanghai Compulsory Education system

A reminder of the key dates: 26th – 28th April - grade 1 applicants need to select their two preferred primary schools. 4th – 6th May – grade 6 applicants need to select their three preferred primary schools

5. Interviews

Selected candidates will be invited to join us for interview on the 19th and 20th May.

6. Offer of a place

Successful candidates will be sent confirmation offer on the 21st and 22nd May.

7. Induction and first day of school

We will keep in close contact with all families in the run up to our school induction on Monday 27th August. [bs_well size="md"]

Important notes regarding registration for the Meet the Master sessions

We recently noticed that some parents had registered to attend one of our upcoming ‘Meet the Master’ sessions but that their child is interested in joining the early years programme at Wellington College Bilingual Shanghai. Spaces at the ‘Meet the Master’ sessions are limited and they are only intended for parents of children entering grade 1 or above. We have therefore cancelled sessions for children who do not meet the age criteria for grade 1 entry and those families will have received an email explaining why. If you think we have mistakenly cancelled your session and your child is interested in grade 1 or above for entry in August 2018, please email the admissions team admissions.bilingualshanghai@wellingtoncollege.cn to clarify your child’s name, date of birth and entry year group, we will be pleased to re-book your attendance.

If you are interested in our early years programme at Wellington College Bilingual Shanghai, admissions has closed for August 2018. If you would like to find out more about our nursery programme, we will open registration to attend a coffee morning later this year. Please check the early years setting’s website and wechat in September for further information. [/bs_well]
